Transparent utfyllnad Rare birds database

White-tailed Tropicbird Phaethon lepturus at Fajãzinha, Flores 2011-10-20 (Photo: Daniele Occhiato).

In this data base all by us known sightings of rare birds are listed. All sightings are included, and sightings (birds) are all numbered in chronological order.
For the same list but complete with information about references, documentation status, and more details - please go to the Rare birds references list.

We have tried to give one number for each bird which means that a bird in the same place in two different days often is presumed to be one and the same bird. In some cases (mostly larger birds) we have given a bird the same number even if the observations are made on different islands (if dates, plumage, and presumed migratory/flight direction fits). This is to avoid any double counts.
For a number of records (especially older ones) the exact dates may be missing. Dates are then given with zeros in decades, years, or months. More information about this is often given in the full reference version (No date = 1900-00-00, before 1903 = 1902-00-00, February 1968 = 1968-02-00) et cetera.

By clicking on the camera symbol you will be linked to photographs in the bird photo section concerning the actual sighting.

The documentation symbol will link you to other documentation photos (dead birds, photos of less photographical quality), other pictures or even texts concerning the actual sighting.
